And we plan to release new

Hari would often drop the beat at the wrong place, and then we’d have to redo the whole thing. I was looking to try my hand at doing some numbers with vocals, when I met Sukhmani through a mutual friend. It’s easy enough to co-ordinate with these variations when it’s live music, but electronic music is pre-recorded. Going there, getting to experience the rich culture there, and staying with them for 10 days made it one of the most memorable collaborations that we’ve done," smiles themusician.Earthy, traditional notes of Punjabi folk music intoned in a classically trained voice mingle with electronic beats, to create a catchy tune that both stays in your mind, and touches your heart. In the urban set-up, most people just listen to mainstream or English songs. And we plan to release new music every other month from now," Hari grins. It all sort of just fell into place," recalls Hari. It was a natural progression really, and not a calculated move.Though the duo has taken their time to bring out singles in the past, they have resolved to release tracks much more frequently and already have several in the works.

"While the folk tradition is rich and beautiful, it is mostly restricted to rural India in today’s day and age.The duo met when they were both looking to collaborate and branch out from their own fields of specialty — Hindustani classic for Sukhmani and electronic music for Hari Singh. The political side to it didn’t really enter our minds. Through appearances in Dewarists, radio shows, as well as their regular single releases, they have brought the heritage of Punjabi folk music into the modern age. In folk music on the other hand, sometimes you have to drop the beat, sometimes you pick up the pace. While the two have perfected meshing of their very different genres to create a unique sound, which still manages to retain the focus on the mellifluous folk flavour, there were some teething troubles along the way. This is the speciality that Hari and Sukhmani bring into each of their songs. There’s nothing quite like music to bridge the most unbridgeable gaps, and Hari says that the political implications of working with a Pakistani band never even struck him..Having got the hang of incorporating elements of their own respective genres, the duo has gone on to collaborate with artistes from across the board — from israj player Arshad Khan to the Indian jazz band, Earthstage.

"We’ve already come up with three singles this year alone — Promises, Chann and Jhanjar. They could have been from anywhere in the world. saw mills Manufacturers However, it is the collaboration with the Pakistani rock band, Noori that Hari recalls as one of their most memorable ones. It’s something we still struggle with even now," laughs Sukhmani. "It took a lot of time to complete the project, since we had to go to Lahore to shoot the video for Yariyaan. "The thing about electronic music is that the beat is always four-by-four. "We met in the US, when we shared the stage at an event, and we thought it would be fun to collaborate. So, this was a way for us to bring the earthy, rustic flavour of folk music back into modern culture," explains Sukhmani Malik."I have a diploma with a specialisation in electronic music, and I had already experimented with non-vocal music. The main thing is that they’re an amazing bunch of musicians," he asserts.

Models display creations

When you have finished that chapter, you really envy the generations of students who had been taught medieval literature by the author. Designer Rina Singh of brand Eka kickstarted the day. Sporting an embellished black jumpsuit, newcomer Athiya Shetty exuded grace and charisma as she played a perfect muse to Namrata and closed the show for day 4.Models display creations by designer Aneeth Arora on the runway, recreated as a classroom, during the Amazon India Fashion Week in New Dellhi. Then and this is really interesting there is an exploration of Dante’s linguistic relationship with Virgil. The stripes were simple, pared back and devoid of colours. With a black and white and neutral palette, the brand utilised silks, wools, linens, cotton silks with wool blending, merino, natural linen with gold textural weaves, etc.

The pattern story spoke of ginghams, checks, stripes of various length and width along with floral embroideries. Brand Ashima-Leena presented their collection that was influenced by the rich divine motifs of Persian carpets in a luxurious prêt collection titled "Fragrance of Persia".To go back to the beginning for I started this review, as Dante did his Comedy, in the middle of things Shaw guides us with steadfast certainty through the Florence of Dante’s boyhood, through his friendships and his political ambitions, through the larger picture of medieval Europe, and the rancour between papalists and imperialists. Aneeth’s show titled "Pippi Goes to Poppy Fields" was inspired by Pippi Longstocking, the protagonist of Astrid Lindgren’s eponymous series of children’s books.

Eka’s muses were artistes Philippe Decrauzat, Jeppe Hein, Alphonso Artiaco and John Paul Phillip whose artwork inspired the wood cutting band saw machine Manufacturers metallic highlighting on garments, layering opulence, and colour direction and pattern. . Prue Shaw’s Reading Dante is a joy. Her technique is an autoschediasm of traditional weaves which is catalyst in giving the classic drape a re-look via her signature anti-fit blouses in contrasting colours. Handwoven fabrics such as pashmina wool, khadi, lace, merino, cotton, chanderi, denims and angora wool reigned the collection in silhouettes ranging from loose dresses, reversible short and long jackets, anti-fit tops and more. The designer presented a line of shimmering occasion gowns, jumpsuits, separates, pant suits in her signature colour palette blacks, berries and reds. Shaw’s book grows in momentum, as does The Divine Comedy itself, and the finest chapter to be read and re-read many times alongside the poem is the final one on Dante’s language.’ Typical of Shaw’s breadth is that, while placing the episode firmly within the context of the Divine Comedy, she is also leading our minds into the version of Lord Tennyson, and the mindset of hero-adventurers like Captain Scott.
